Frequently Asked Questions

  • We always suggest starting with our “Naked” products with babies.  Because their skin is more sensitive than adults, and you have not yet determined all their sensitivities in life, it is best to use unscented products first.  Once you feel comfortable with introducing essential oils, then you can try some of the other scented soaps and body butters etc.  As always, try first on a small patch of skin to be sure they don’t have a reaction.  Most babies do well with essential oils, but its always best to err on the side of caution for their little bodies.  “Naked & Sweet” soap, “Naked” Laundry Detergent, “Naked Lotion Stick” for dry patches, “Naked Body Butter or Lux Oil” after baths. Just a note that the bar soap can sting if the lather gets in their eyes because the soap has a pH of around a 9.  An alternative would be to use the Naked Shampoo Bar which has a pH closer to 5.5.

  • The short answer is Naked and Coffee scented products.  If you are ok with the smell of coffee essential oil, I highly recommend using any Coffee products for eczema.  There are compounds in the coffee essential oil that calm and heal the skin.  Coffee Lotion Stick, Coffee Body Butter, Coffee Bean Tallow Balm, Coffee Lux Oil.  Depending on where the eczema is will determine which product works best for you.  For example, if on your hands (an area washed frequently), I recommend Coffee Lotion Stick, because its thicker consistency will last through multiple washing.  If on a larger patch of skin (like your legs or torso), I recommend the Coffee Body Butter or Tallow Balm.  It will be less thick and also easier to spread quickly over the area.  For your face and scalp, use the Coffee Lux Oil.  If you don’t want to smell like coffee, use the Naked products instead.

  • We did develop our Sun Butter as a sun protection.  However, we are not have FDA regulated with our formula.  That being said, there are 2 minerals used to block the sun: titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. We have zinc oxide in all our Sun Butters for this reason.  The zinc oxide sits on top of the skin to act like a blanket to block out the sun’s rays.  Zinc oxide is a broad-spectrum UV blocker.  As always, reapply as needed, use other sun protection methods such as clothing, hats, and shade.  Our Sun Butter is water resistant, but not water proof, so reapply more frequently if in the water. Our zinc oxide is non-nano, meaning it can only sit on top of your skin and not absorb into your skin.

  • Many of our customers use our Bug Spray for their babies and children.  Because there are a variety of essential oils in the Bug Spray, it is best to first try on a small patch of skin.  Use caution around their eyes.  There are no harmful chemicals (like deet) in our Bug Spray.  If you are uncertain of spraying it on your child, you can, instead, spray their clothing, blankets, carseats, strollers etc.

  • The difference between the Dog and regular Summer Thyme Bug Sprays is the blend of essential oils. The Dog Bug Spray can be used for both dogs and people and has an essential oil blend that is safe for dogs.  The Summer Thyme Bug Spray has a different essential oil blend, however two of the oils (thyme and peppermint) most people don’t use with dogs.
